Baby Burning Man Project
According to the Burning Man 2017 census, only one percent (1.1%) of the population was under the age of 18. In 2016, my partner and I set out to meet some of these young Burners to experience what Burning Man might look like through their eyes. We were able to meet 52 baby Burners on playa (ages six months to 17 years old) and had lots of fun creating a video with them to share with our communities. One of the biggest reactions to the video was, ‘Children go to Burning Man?!?!?’ We are looking for families who will be on the playa during this year’s Burn to share their stories. Have your children been to Burning Man? Is this their first year attending? Do you have advice for other parents or simply just want to share your favorite thing to do with your children at Burning Man? This year, we will be set up to take photos of the Baby Burners of Burning Man. With each photo, we hope to document a few words of your experience to share with the Burning Man community and those who just aren't sure about us ‘hippies' in the desert. Our intention is to continue to create awareness of the young minds that play in the dust. Burning Man is a community of all ages! We want to share as many family stories as playa time allows. Looking for participants who have children aged 0 to 17 at Burning Man this year.
